26. Straight on until Van der Boechorststraat

Carefully cross Amstelveenseweg and go straight into Van Nijenrodeweg. Go straight on when you reach the street called Bolestein. Also here walk straight on and go to the intersection of Van Nijenrodeweg with Van der Boechorststraat. There at your right hand you can see a Green Project (photo 25).

When you enter Van Nijenrodeweg you will immediately see on your right hand one of many nursing homes in Buitenveldert. It is called Marius ten Catehof and offers residential care to more than 300 people over the age of 55 and to people with disabilities. Compared to the rest of Amsterdam, many elderly people live in Buitenveldert.

Just before the intersection of Van Nijenrodeweg with Van der Boechorststraat you can see on the right the small garden of the project “Green in the neighbourhood”. This project has been laid out and is maintained by residents from the neighbourhood. The project is supported by Natuur & Milieu Team Zuid and is subsidized by Stadsdeel Amsterdam Zuid. Local residents can also start a green project themselves and ask for help from the Nature and Environment team South.
